One of the major differences between the role of the writer and academic for Elbow is the different approaches they take on the text.  The writer approaches his text with emotions and past experiences whereas the reader approaches the text looking for fact.  The reader is much like the writers parent, seeing the direction of the text that the writer needs to take, but the writer refuses to follow what the reader wants.  The difference makes an impact because it is hard to have a piece of text where two different approaches are being made.

The way that I changed this from the first time I wrote it to the second time was my use of vocabulary. I am trying to enhance my vocabulary, so I changed the word “seeing” to “approach”. I think it fits better in the text as well.

I think that the reader and writer BOTH can’t comprehend the difference between emotion and fact. The reader knows the text from a “non-fiction-esque” type of view versus the writer who knows the writing from what they feel. However, I don’t know which one is correct because you need facts to get emotions…
